Wow, what a location. Thankfully we did our research and had read other reviews that we needed to park outside the village as you'd only every get the smallest of cars to the hotel. A quick phone call when we parked up (cemetery car park is free 24hrs) and they sent a nice chap (Eric?) down to pick us up in a little Fiat 500. The walk up/down to the car which I did in the evening is hard work. The restaurant/food was amazing, really enjoyed that and a stunning view of the sea and beyond. The next morning we ventured further up into the medieval village and up the castle, really worth doing. They have a tiny pool (indoors technically) but has jets/waterfalls and a resistance pool allowing you to swim in it. The hotel itself was stunning and multi-levelled, our room was across the road, when we entered the hotel we'd need to go up two different stairs to exit the street above, it reminds you how steep the location is. Staff were amazing, made us feel very welcome, special thanks to Fiona who went the extra mile to ensure wedding anniversary was extra special. The room was stunning, ours actually had two air-con units, which we really appreciated as it was close to 40c that day. Very comfortable bed, secure (we slept with balcony doors open). Will stay again!

We had stayed here many years ago and were looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. We were very kindly upgraded to a beautiful spacious bedroom with a small balcony. Dinner in the restaurant on the open terrace was very good. The Sisteron Lamb was delicious and also the perfumed carpaccio dessert. The reception staff were so kind and helpful with recommendations. We can’t thank enough the lovely young lady who personally drove us down to meet our taxi to the airport which was unable to reach us in time due to extreme weather which had caused a very bad traffic jam. Thank you again! If you are looking for a tranquil stay away from the crowds we would definitely recommend Chateau Le Cagnard. There are also a couple of nice friendly restaurants in the village square with a good menu choice.

My partner and I had a lovely stay at Chateau Le Cagnard for the last 3 days. The hotel is in this medieval town on the top of a mountain and looks down over the valley so you have this amazing view through the valley. Perfect for watching the sunset with cheese & wine on the terrace. The staff at this hotel make the stay fantastic, we had a few requests and they helped us out perfectly without complaint. The room had a heap of character and was very clean.f you're looking for a hotel to stay at that is central to all tourist locations (like Nice, Antibes, Chateau Le Cagnard, Saint Paul De Vence) this hotel is great if you have a car as everything is within 20-30 mins away.

Our bedroom was not in the main house but on the other side of the road directly underneath the restaurant. I think this room would be perfect for disabled guests (which we were not) as it has a hidden door, low light switches, wet room style shower and a very high toilet and grab rail. I loved the balcony and the views over the valley. The bedroom is smart and stylish, comfy bed and pillows and in the inspiration of the artist Johannson( a painting directly painted on the wall of his work ). The beautiful, charming interiors of the main house. Dining in the fabulous restaurant at night with the roof rolled back and the delicious breakfasts.

I loved staying at Chateau Le Cagnard as it was so beautiful and steeped in history. The vista from our room was breathtaking as was the dining room outlook and the interesting hilltop town of Cagnes-sur-mer is a must visit! Our room was also very spacious with a great functional bathroom. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant and breakfast the next morning was equally as good. The only thing I would say to people who are thinking to book is remember that this hotel is in an ancient building and although it is magnificent ( and has a lift ) there are a few steps to be negotiated.
